Comprehensive Root-Cause Evidence-Based Healthcare

What is Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine takes a comprehensive approach to your health, focusing on identifying the underlying factors that contribute to chronic conditions, optimizing wellness, supporting longevity, and helping you restore healthier metabolic function through a guided metabolic reset.

Our goal is to help you feel your best by addressing the “why” behind your symptoms rather than just treating them.

How Do I Become a Member?

Getting started begins with our Functional Health Assessment. Your responses help us understand your current symptom burden and recommend the membership level that best fits your needs.

1. Complete the Functional Health Assessment

Answer a series of brief questions about the frequency and severity of symptoms you have experienced. Your assessment is scored automatically and provides an initial recommendation for the level of care that may be most appropriate for you.

2. Review Your Recommended Membership

Once you complete the assessment, you will immediately see your Functional Symptom Score and recommended membership level, along with the services and support included in that plan.

You can enroll directly in the recommended membership and schedule your initial visit.

3. Schedule Your Initial Visit

During your 90-minute initial visit, we review your health history, symptoms, medications, available lab results, health goals, and other relevant information to develop a more complete picture of your health.

We will use that information to begin developing your personalized care plan and, when appropriate, adjust your membership level based on the complexity of your care.

Frequently asked questions

Why do you require a three-month minimum enrollment?

Functional medicine is a step-by-step process that takes time to get to the root-cause. We start with a comprehensive intake, followed by ordering tests and reviewing results and starting a personalized treatment plan, which often includes nutrition and lifestyle changes and, when appropriate, supplements or prescriptions. We stay in close contact, monitor progress and refine the plan, if required.

Can I use my HSA or FSA for the Functional membership?

Starting January 1, 2026, direct primary care memberships may be eligible for HSA reimbursement, up to federally set monthly limits. Patients should confirm with their HSA administrator or tax advisor. FSA accounts are more restrictive so please check with your plan administrator.

Can I cancel any time?

After the initial three-month minimum enrollment, Functional memberships are month-to-month. You can cancel anytime with a 30-day notice, which allows us to provide continuity and gives you time to transfer your care to another provider if needed.

Can I sign up for your membership if I already have a primary care provider?

Yes. You do not need to switch your primary care provider (PCP) to enroll in our membership. If you prefer to keep your existing PCP, we can focus on a root-cause, functional medicine approach, and, if desired, can share relevant findings with your PCP to keep your care aligned.

What platform do you use for telehealth visits, and how can I test it before my first appointment?

We use a HIPAA-compliant version of Google Meet through our secure Google Workspace environment. Before your first visit, we recommend doing a quick test:

  1. Use a computer or smartphone with a camera and microphone,

  2. Use the latest version of Chrome or the Google Meet app,

  3. Click the meeting link you received and allow camera/microphone permissions when prompted,

  4. Confirm you can see yourself and that the mic input is active,

  5. Test your audio by playing any short video to confirm your speaker volume.

For the best experience, use a strong Wi-Fi connection, close other video/audio apps, and join from a quiet, well-lit location.

Can I schedule a one-time visit if I'm not ready for a membership?

A functional medicine approach requires an on-going relationship between a patient and a provider. If you already have your functional lab results and would like help interpreting them, we offer a single one-hour visit. If you decide during that visit that you are interested in an on-going relationship, we can convert it to a membership.

Can I work with you if I'm not located in Colorado?

We can provide care to patients who are physically located in Colorado or Arizona at the time of the visit (including virtual visits and any follow up communications). For patients located in Arizona, we do not prescribe controlled substances, including testosterone, at this time.
